The region of Jungela and Takt Hazar have been embroiled in hatred for centuries. Now a young man named Ranjha from Takt Hazar, who lives with several brothers and their respective wives, has fallen in love with a young woman named Heer from Jungela. His brothers will not permit him to marry outside the region, while the parents of Heer are agreeable. But when Ranjha does not show up on the wedding night, they arrange her marriage with another suitor by the name of Saheda Khan, even though Heer does not give her consent to the marriage, she is married. After the marriage, Ranjha comes to meet with Heer and their romance is rekindled, much to the chagrin of Saheda, who wants Heer to follow the Shariyat Law, obey him, sleep with him, and shun Ranjha. Heer refuses to do so and Saheda calls upon the Islamic Clergy, who are unable to convince Heer. Then the Maharaja gets involved when he finds out that Heer has been forcibly married.

While studying in Aligarh, Anwar Hussain Anwar falls in love with a veiled woman and is unable to get her out of his mind. Enroute to Lucknow, they meet with Nawab Buland Akhtar Changezi, and subsequently meet with him a few days later so that he can use his influence to secure an editor's job for Anwar with a magazine. Nawab then asks Anwar to teach his sister, Husna, some poetry, to which he agrees, and eventually finds that she is the very same veiled woman. Both fall in love with each other and the Nawab approves of this alliance even though Anwar lives a poor lifestyle. The formal engagement ceremony takes place and arrangements are made for the wedding to take place soon. The heavily indebted Nawab does not realize that soon he will find Anwar in the company of a lowly courtesan, Najma; and pressure will be brought on him to get Husna to marry wealthy Munne Raja - who is all set to auction the former's mansion as well as belongings.

Yusuf lives a wealthy lifestyle with his businessman dad, Safdarjang, who is confined to a wheel-chair. When Yusuf's precocious nephew, Khalid alias Phirangi's tutor, Mrs. Albert complains about him and quits, Yusuf hires Shabana, who along with her granny, have come to live with them for a short period of time. He also hires a man named Khairudin as a servant to look after his dad. Yusuf and Shabana are attracted to each other and intend to marry, much to the joy of Safdarjang and the granny. The wedding preparations are on, but there are a couple things Yusuf and his family do not know. One is that Shabana is the daughter of a Courtesan named Najma; and that Khairudin has secured employment in order to kill Yusuf.

Sunil lives with his mom and sister in a middle-class dwelling in Delhi, India. He works for Chopra & Co., Chartered Accountants. He comes across a beautiful woman posing for a painting, and thinks she is poor and needy, and gives her a tip. The woman's name is Anita, and both are attracted to each other. Sunil and Anita intend to marry, and Sunil even introduces Anita to his mom. One day when attending a party, Sunil is shocked to learn that Anita is a multi-millionaire. Stunned at this deception, he swears he will have nothing to do with her. When Anita attempts to sooth things over, Sunil does cool down. It is then he finds out that Anita's dad, who is serving time, had killed his father, and that Anita mother is still alive, after making her living as a former prostitute.

Kumar lives a poor lifestyle in a village in India along with his mom, dad, Badri, and a younger brother, Arun. This time Prabha will be a married woman - married to Bombay`s Public Prosecutor, Mathur - who is prosecuting Kumar for using a gun to kill a woman named Kalpana!!

A story of two women Shaista and Nayyara, and their daughters. Shaista is very selfish and has spoiled her husband's life. Shaista's daughters, Muskan and Iraj are stylish, having a very rude and aggressive behaviour with everyone, especially their cousins. Nayyara is a cousin of Shaista and a wife of her brother-in-law. On the way, he meets beautiful Saltanat, and falls in love with her. On arrival at Salim's house, Akhtar is treated with utmost respect, provided employment, and a place to live. Akhtar meets with Saltanat and both plan to get married. Unknown to them, Salim also loves Saltanat, but Saltanat rejects his advances, and proposal, leaving his heartbroken. Soon Saltanat and Akhtar get married and settle down. Saltanat soon gives birth to a son. Salim is very affectionate with this child, and the child too grows to like Salim. Akhtar, meanwhile, has fallen in bad company, drinks alcohol, and romances a courtesan.

Sun from Chicago (USA) and Lucas from Mallorca (Spain) meet each other in a students's flat in Barcelona. They fall in love and try to enjoy it without thinking of their separation at the term's ending. Will their love prevail?
